Death the Kid (Soul Eater) X Trickster!Reader Christmas One Shot

H Y/n huffed as Himmel and Hölle dragged her  down the steps of the DWMA. The twins were muttering between themselves and kept glancing behind them, pulling Y/n harder when she herself tried to look back. The cold was just beginning to set in properly and a layer of frost covered the streets and made the stairs and pavement slippery as the trio flew down them. Y/n had to run to keep from fallling flat on her face as the twins yanked her towards their home. Her cheeks and skin was burning red from the cold, causing her markings to stand out more prominently.
They made it back without any actual injuries, although Y/n was sure that her arms had been pulled out of her sockets. The twins went scampering up to their rooms, for whatever reason, leaving Y/n standing alone in the living room. The house was warm thanks to her Mema spending all day baking for Christmas. A sweet aroma wafted from the kitchen, the mouthwatering smell of sugar luring Y/n very happily to its source.
Sōhōkō flitted about the kitchen gracefully, peering into the oven, stirring the bowl of icing and checking on the cookies that sat on the table cooling. Y/n's hand sneaked out, pinching two of the chocolate chip delights from the table and shovelling both into her mouth as her Mema turned around. The older Trickster, face streaked with flour and hands coated in icing, put her fists to her hips and glared at her daughter. She smiled sheepishly.
"For the record, they're really good." Y/n mumbled, mouth covered and voice muffled by the cookies. Sōhōkō scoffed and shook her head.
"I shouldn't be surprised, really." She muttered to herself, turning back to the oven again as the timer went off. "They do smell good and you are still a young Trickster, so..." Y/n grunted in indignation, putting her hands on her hips and puffing out her chest.
"How dare you!!" She spoke, mouth still full of cookie and cheeks stil puffed out like a hamster's, "I am extremely powerful. You do not get to taunt me with delicious treats and expect me to have enough self control to leave them be! You must guard them with your life, from creatures of destruction!!"
"Like you?" Two voices spoke behind her, and fingers were jammed into her sides making her squeak and scuttle forward, away from the potential adversaries. Turning to the door, she scowled at the twins, both of whom were trying to hide their giggles. She swallowed her remaining cookie.
"What? Do you have a problem with me lecturing my mother on baking safety?" This made Hölle guffaw as Himmel shook his head.
"Nah, you do you. However, I was tol a certain friend of yours wants to meet you at that one lake, the one in the park?" Y/n nodded her understanding, still confused by the lack of information however. "Great! You'll need these." Thrust into her hands were a pair of ice skates, and before she could ask questions or argue, she was shoved out the door. The sounds of the twins cackling on the other side of the door made her huff before she set off to the small lake in the centre of Death City Park, the ice skates slung over her shoulder.
Gosh, she didn't know how long it had been since she had used them. Probably in that one mission in Iceland last year. The streets were almost empty as she passed a few people rushing home. Must be to get out of the cold. She shrugged at the thought, she had always preferred the chillier months to the hot ones anyway. The cold was just easier to deal with, just put on another layer if needs be. The heat was murder though. Her (skin/c) skin burned easily, meaning she had to lather herself in sunscreen and cover up completely to save herself from it, however that left her burning alive under all the layers. It was a miracle that she hadn't spontaneously combusted yet, really, considering the number of missions she had had near the equator.
Passing through the gates of the park, she smiled at the peace in of the environment surrounding her. She loved this park, especially when it was empty and she was alone. The trees lining the path to the main lake were all layered with frost, the entrict patterns swirling up the bark in beautiful designs. Snow had fallen over the last few nights, and whilst it had been stomped down and cleared on the busy streets of the city, in the park the snow topping the grass and most of the paths lay undisturbed. She felt great satisfaction in stepping purposefully down on to the semisolid surface, leaving an indent when she raised her foot. This method repeated all the way to the lake in the centre of the park, where the snow made its way all the way to the edge of the ice.
Benches were speckled about the surrounding area, just off the path, looking down at the lake which was noticeably absent of the swans and ducks that normally inhabited it. Leaning on one of those benches was an item that made Y/n grin. She made her way to the bench were the sleek black skateboard stood, balanced against the bench. She hefted the skateboard from its spot into her arms after setting down her skates.
"Beelzebub?"
"Beelzebub." The crisp cool voice that matched the air broke the peaceful silence, making Y/n's head swivel around and her (e/c) eyes catch gold. Kid stood formally and almost stiff on the ice, his hands behind his back and his cheeks bright red, though whether from the cold or embarrassment she didn't know. She smiled at him.
"I was wondering what it was doing sitting here by itself. It looked lonely." She giggled as his face flushed deeper red. Placing the skateboard down, she made her way carefully down the dip that the lake normally filled, stopping on the edge of the ice and planting a sweet kiss on to Kid's nose. They both blushed again, though Y/n giggled. Kid cleared his throat, the colour not leaving his face.
"Do you need assistance with your skates?" The line was just barely above a mumble, his cheeks blazing so badly that it reached the tops of his ears, making his eyes stand out more. She didn't, but where was the fun in that? She giggled.
"I think I might, please." Blushing, Kid awkwardly pulled himself off the ice and up the slope with her help, up to the bench were her skates lay discarded. Motioning her to sit down, he picked them up and began fiddling with the laces, pulling them undone and loose enough to pull over her thick winter socks. Socks, he realised as she pulled off her boots, were an icy blue and covered in little skull masks similar to his father's all wearing little Santa hats. She laughed as he rolled his eyes, kneeling at her feet to help her pull on the skates. Her eyes didn't leave his face as he concentrated on tying the laces into symmetrical bows on both skates, kneeling back slightly to get a better look at both of them. When he was satisfied, the little grin that spread on his face light it up and his eyes gleamed with happiness when they turned up to look at her. She couldn't help herself, she really couldn't. Leaning forward she planted a gentle kiss on to his forehead, increasing his blush by ten fold. She smiled at his dumbfounded expression.
"Too cute~~" she mumbled as she stood and clambered down the hill to the ice, Kid trailing behind her.
Without a second thought, she stepped out on to the ice and happily skated a few feet before coming to a stop and turning on her heel to look back at Kid.
He stood awkwardly on the ice, arms outstretched and wobbling slightly, the opposite of his usual refined disposition. He looked like a very confused puppy struggling to control his legs. He knew where he wanted to go (over to her) and he knew how far he had to go to get there (barely any distance really). It was the how to get there that was stumping him and she offered no assistance as he struggled forward slightly before tumbling down to his hands and knees as his skates crossed. Oh, that made her laugh.
He huffed at the sound. He loved her laughter and loved being the cause of it, but he didn't want it to be because he couldnt get to her. He staggered, rather ungracefully, to his feet and tried to move forward once more.
Thinking it over, he did actually move forward this time. Although he didn't exactly plan for it to end in his face colliding directly to the cold, hard ice. He didn't dare look up at her gasp of shock, only moving to grasp his nose, which was now excruciatingly painful.  "Kid, don't do that. You had me worried." He clamped his eyes shut and didn't move. Maybe if he didn't move, he could freeze to death and save himself the embarrassment of having to walk around with a broken nose from trying to impress his girlfriend. Oh Death, she probably thought he was a loser. The next Grim Reaper, and he doesn't know how to ice skate. Brilliant. His thoughts were stalled by her hand on his shoulder however, pressing very gently, as if it to hurt him. Good, he was pained enough as it is.
"Kid? Kid, are you alright?" Why does she sound so worried, he was only an idiot. He cracked open one eye, gold meeting (e/c) again, and drew in a lungful of air. She looked horrified. Her skin was pale and markings prominent, even with the cold, her eyes shining with fear at the sight of him. Was his nose really that bad? She let out a puff of air, the vapour curling around her head as she sighed with relief. She laughed quietly as she spoke.
"Kid don't do that! You had me worried."
"Worried? Worried that your idiot Grim Reaper of a boyfriend had died trying to show off?" She smirked, but almost sadly.
"No, worried that my boyfriend and best friend had just smashed his head in on the ice." Kid's half-assed smirk died on his lips at the thought, watching as Y/n lowered her eyes. No, no, no! He had meant for this to be fun, now he'd made her sad, damnit! He sat up quickly, ignoring the throb of his head and the ache in his nose and pulled her into a tight hug, pressing her face into his shoulder as he rocked her gently.
"Calm down you idiot, no one's dead, no one's dying, I'm fine, look at me." He pulled back slightly to try and meet her eyes. "Look at me." He spoke more firmly. She did.
His nose was swollen slightly and she could spot the bruise beginning to form on his skin. His face was red and damp from lying on the ice, but aside from that he was fine. She smiled. He was fine. She giggled.
"Guess that wasn't exactly the way you wanted it to go, hm?" He huffed at her sniggers and pouted before turning away. "Oh, come on, Kiddo. Kid, come on!" She draped her arms over his shoulders and nuzzled her face into neck, smiling as it heated up from his blush. "Come on! For what it was worth, I loved it. It was a great idea, I loved it. Even if you did break your nose because of it."
The Reaper froze at the feeling of lips pressing against his neck, the blush crawling up his face to his ears again. He jumped as the Trickster behind him cackled and spun him around before skating to the edge of the ice as he struggled to keep his balance.
"Y-Y/n!!" He yelled after her cackling self, who had easily climbed up the hill, even in skates and had grabbed Beelzebub, before scampering out of sight, laughing all the way. "Y/N!!!"
